Southern Bald Ibis South Africa

Southern Bald Ibis South Africa - BIRDS & INSECTS
A slender, dark greenish-blue ibis with bare, pink face & bald, scarlet crown. The species live on cliff edges where they build their nests & for the most part, breed in colonies. They are regarded as 'vulnerable' being under threat from human disturbance at their breeding sites, & the degradation of their habitat. They are also under threat by some African tribal practices that use eggs & nestlings for food & medicine purposes & farming populations who use them to supplement their meat supplies.
