The Grey Heron

The Grey Heron - BIRDS & INSECTS
A long legged predatory wading bird of the heron family, native through temperate Europe, Asia & parts of Africa. They have a huge wingspan of 1.6 - 2 m. I'm always surprised to see such large birds perched at the top of trees, patiently watching & waiting, which is also where they build their nests in colonies called Heronries.
